It seems these days it's considered normal to starve ourselves by eating minimal calories.
.
It can be very daunting to think about having to eat more, especially when trying to lose weight, but you will get to a point where you will plateau out, doing more and eating less won't always work!
.
Here's why:
.
Our bodies need an amount of energy/calories to keep us alive and for our organs to function optimally.
.
This is your basal metabolic rate (BMR) this will start at around roughly 1300 calories for females and 1700 calories for males (this is just an estimate, and will be even more for those with a greater muscle mass). Depending on many factors.
.
This number doesn’t include the energy cost of your daily training sessions, food digestion and daily activity.
.
Sometimes people are shocked by the amount they need to eat but without fueling your body correctly you are starving your body of vital nutrients.
.
The calories you need will be completely different to your friends/peers.
.
Your nutrition requirements might be higher than you expect, but don’t let a different or new number concern you.
.
Lets stop normalising under-eating and normalise eating enough to meet your daily requirements and demands of training.
.
Your body will thank you!
